Non-alcoholic Hardys wine review

DRINK SUMMARY

Name – Hardys Zero
Producer – Hardys
Type – non-alcoholic chardonnay
Alcohol content – 0.0%
MyDryBar Rating – 59/100
Drink review – To give this chardonnay credit the balance of sweetness and acidity is pretty decent and overall its not a bad alcohol-free white wine but I prefer the sparkling options.

Hardys is a name you’ve likely come across before given the size of the winery. They have been producing award-winning wines since 1850 and this Australian brand now caters to a growing trend – non-alcoholic wines – known as Zero wines.

Hardys currently has three non-alcoholic wines on offer – a sparkling white, a shiraz, and a chardonnay, which is what I tried today.

Like many other wine producers, Hardys uses clever technology to gently de-alcoholize the wine while aiming to maintain the classic characteristics of their alcoholic siblings.

So the question is does Hardys’ legendary status in the wine world enable them to make a palatable wine and not one that is destined for the sink? Well, you’ll just need to read my review below to find out.

Is non-alcoholic Hardys wine any good?

Taste

Not bad. Not bad. This non-alcoholic chardonnay has some of the classic flavour profiles you would expect from this grape. On first taste, I do get hints of tropical fruit and apple however it did lack a bit in body. To give it credit the balance of sweetness and acidity is pretty decent and overall its not a bad alcohol-free white wine but I prefer the sparkling options.

Aroma & Appearance

When I cracked open up a bottle of Hardys Zero I got some classic chardonnay aromas dominated by the smell of nectarines. As you can see in the glass this wine has a light/ medium amber look.

Bonus points

This non-alcoholic chardonnay is suitable for gluten-free drinkers and those looking for a zero alcoholic drink however it isn’t suitable for vegans. Availability-wise its a pretty common wine to find at local supermarkets and online specialists.
